Pump Tracks in Northern Ireland

Pump tracks and BMX tracks across Northern Ireland, from Belfast's city parks and the national standard track in Lisburn to village tracks across County Down, plus the trail centres with a pump track at the trailhead.

About this guide

A pump track is a loop of rollers and berms (raised, banked corners) that you ride by pumping your body up and down rather than pedalling. Get the timing right and you can lap without a single pedal stroke. Most of the tracks in this guide are asphalt, free to ride and open to scooters and balance bikes as well as bikes, so a card names the surface only where it differs.

We have included BMX tracks too, because riders use both and the riding overlaps. They run from the national standard race track in Lisburn, ridden in booked club sessions, to free council tracks in Belfast's parks.

The guide starts in Belfast, then covers County Antrim and County Down, and finishes with the trail centres that have a pump track beside the car park. Two more tracks are being built in Ards and North Down, at Donaghadee and at the Bangor Sportsplex: follow them on Trail Watch. Crossing to Scotland? See pump tracks in Scotland. For what to ride, what to wear, track etiquette and the other regions, see our guide to pump tracks in the UK.
