Description
Dunleath Urban Sports Park in Downpatrick has a free asphalt pump track of berms and rollers, about 80 metres long, beside a 400 square metre skatepark with ramps, grind rails and a bowl. It sits in Dunleath Park, a short walk from the town centre and next to Down Leisure Centre.
The Track
- The pump track is surfaced in asphalt and runs for about 80 metres, with berms and rollers laid out around grass islands, so riders can carry speed round the loop by pumping rather than pedalling.
- It was built by CiVCO Ltd for Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, with funding from the Department for Communities.
- The council describes the park as a free space for bikes, BMX, scooters and skateboards, aimed at riders aged eight and over.
Also in the Park
- Next to the pump track is a 400 square metre skatepark with ramps, grind rails and a skate bowl, shared by skaters, scooter riders and BMX riders.
- Dunleath Park also has playing fields and a walking path, and Down Leisure Centre is next door.
Getting Here
- The park is at Thomas Russell Park, Downpatrick, BT30 6FJ, next to Down Leisure Centre.
- From the town centre, use the ramp or steps at St Patrick's Avenue.
