1. Who We Are

iBikeRide.com (“iBikeRide”, “we”, “us”) is a mountain bike trail directory and community operated from the United Kingdom, covering both the iBikeRide website at ibikeride.com and the iBikeRide mobile app for iOS and Android (together, the “Service”). We are the data controller for personal data collected through the Service.

2. What Data We Collect

Account data

When you register, we collect your name, email address, and profile photo. If you sign in with Google, Apple, GitHub or Facebook, we receive the profile information you authorise those services to share.

User submissions

Content you create — trail reviews, check-ins, photos, comments, and profile information — is stored and associated with your account.

Location and ride data

If you record a ride in the iBikeRide app, we store the GPS track (route, distance, elevation) against your account so you can view your ride history. Recording a ride is optional and only happens when you start it. You can delete individual rides or all recorded tracks at any time (see “Your Rights” below).

Push notifications

If you enable notifications in the app, we store a device token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can send you updates. You can disable this at any time in your device settings.

Usage and analytics data

We collect standard web analytics data (pages visited, referring URLs, browser and device type, approximate location based on IP address) through Google Analytics and the Facebook Pixel. This data is aggregated and used to understand how the site is used.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is stored by Mailerlite, our email marketing provider. We only ever add you if you ask us to: creating an account does not subscribe you.

When you opt in we record that you did, along with the date and the page you did it from, so we can show that your consent was given. You can withdraw it at any time from the newsletter setting in your profile or the unsubscribe link in any email, and either route takes effect straight away.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and operate the Service and its features.
  • To authenticate you and manage your account (via Firebase Authentication).
  • To display your submissions (reviews, check-ins, photos) on the site.
  • To send newsletters if you have subscribed (Mailerlite).
  • To analyse site usage and improve our content (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel).
  • To comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Conditions.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (UK GDPR)

  • Contract: processing your account data and submissions to provide the service you signed up for.
  • Legitimate interests: analytics to improve the site; fraud prevention and security.
  • Consent: marketing emails (newsletter); advertising cookies (Facebook Pixel). You can withdraw consent at any time.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and submission data for as long as your account is active. Deleting your account (see “Your Rights” below) removes your personal data immediately, except where we are required by law to retain it. Analytics data is retained in aggregated form.

7. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Object to or restrict processing.
  • Data portability.

If you have an account, you can delete it and all associated data yourself at any time from Delete Account in your profile, or see our Data Deletion page for full instructions. 8. Cookies

We use cookies for authentication, analytics, and advertising. See our Cookie Policy for full details.

9. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised “last updated” date. Significant changes will be notified via the Service.
