Description

Clitheroe Pump Track is a 144 metre asphalt pump track at Edisford Bridge, beside the River Ribble on the western edge of Clitheroe in the Ribble Valley. Velosolutions UK built it for Ribble Valley Borough Council and it opened in October 2026, with a full loop, a central loop that beginners can ride on its own, and a 25 metre jump line.

The Track

  • A 144 metre asphalt pump track for bikes, scooters, skateboards and any other wheels, with rollers from 0.4 to 1.3 metres high and banked turns all the way round.
  • The layout is interconnected, so there are plenty of transfer options between lines as well as a clear continuous loop.
  • A 25 metre jump line and a long outside straight with doubles and triples for riders who want more.
  • The central loop can be ridden on its own, a good place for beginners to build skills before moving on to the full loop.
  • Raised rest areas with start ramps to drop in from. There is no lighting, so it is a daylight track.
  • Free to ride. The track was campaigned for by local riders and families, backed by Clitheroe Town Council, and funded by Ribble Valley Borough Council through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Follow the Clitheroe Pump Track Facebook page for news.

Also in the Park

  • A new play area for children aged 2 to 14 right next to the track, built by KOMPAN UK on the same former pitch and putt field.
  • Edisford Bridge picnic area and riverbank, where people paddle and picnic in summer, plus a miniature railway run by a local model engineering club.
  • The Ribble Way footpath runs along the river.
  • A Changing Places toilet, open 24 hours with a Radar key.
  • Ribblesdale Pool is across Edisford Road, and the town's concrete skate park is in the castle grounds.
