Description

Gortin Glen Forest Park sits six miles north of Omagh on the western edge of the Sperrin Mountains in County Tyrone. The mountain bike network offers a blue loop (approx. 7.1km) and a red loop (approx. 4.6km) combining forest singletrack with open hillside riding — over 14km of trail in total. The park is owned by Forest Service NI and managed by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, and is part of the MountainBikeNI network.

The Trails

  • Blue Trail (approx. 7.1km): Starts from the main trailhead with a steady forest climb, linking flowing descents through named sections including "The Roller Coaster" and "Kelan's Chase." Berms, rhythm sections and fast corners. Intermediate riders.
  • Red Trail (approx. 4.6km): Climbs from the lower car park towards Mullaghcarn (542m) with wide Sperrin views before dropping into the switchbacked descent of "The Mountain" and tight forest singletrack. Technical and sustained. Experienced riders.

Getting Here

  • Primary car park: Gortin Glen Forest Park main car park, Glenpark Road, Gortin, BT79 7SU. The park is on the B48 road between Gortin village and Omagh, approximately 15 minutes from Omagh by car. Park gates open 6:30am to 6pm (October to March) and 9pm (April to September).
  • Signposted from Omagh town centre via the Gortin Road. Trail signage is clear from the main entrance. For events or group bookings contact the park at gortinglenforestpark@fermanaghomagh.com.
  • Trails at Gortin Glen are subject to periodic closures due to forestry operations. Check the MountainBikeNI Gortin Glen page for current trail status before travelling.

Facilities

  • Free car park, toilets, picnic areas, BBQ area, destination play park, trim trail and outdoor classroom. Cafe on site — weekends in low season, daily in summer (seasonal hours vary; check before visiting). No bike hire on site.
