Yeah, it’s OK.

The Blue is really a green and the Red is really a good blue

What do you like?

The Red - new rock features at Madgett’s Pit, The Beast

Virtually all of the Blue route. In fact, I prefer it over the Red. Most of flows well, and there are great higher speed sections in proximity to the trees. The faster you go, the more there is to be had

What could be improved?

I appreciate that it may have been done because of the high volume of traffic, but some of surfaces are absolutely terrible. Putting loose stones on top of hard pack is a recipe for crashes, especially when they insist on doing that in most of the berms. Just sweep them after they’ve been built!!

There are also a couple of sections on both the blue and red that are very sandy in dry weather. These would benefit from laying a hardback surface

In relation to the red route, there are couple of sections that weave through the trees but, as they’re up hill, they ruin the flow. It would better to find an alternative uphill and then bring riders down those sections WITH gravity. Add in a couple of small jumps and drops, and it could be great!

Don't discount Lime Burner just coz it's flat

As the forest is flat it would have been very easy for nothing to be done here and there just be fire roads. All things considered the Lime Burner trail still has a couple of features that are good for those new to off road cycling to practice on before moving on to more difficult trails i.e The Monkey Trail at Cannock Chase which is a favourite of mine. It is also good as a leg stretcher with miles of natural single track in the second half. Adrenaline junkies may find it a bore but we are not all 21 any more and some of us don't bounce as well!

What do you like?

Good work recently done near the first pit on the Lime burner to give some small step downs. It helps to build novices confidence. Those of us who go to Coed Y Brenin or Dyfi Bike Park may find it a bit tame, but they are making the best out of the geography available.

What could be improved?

Unfortunately we are not going to get any mountains suddenly arrive in Thetford Forest so improvement is difficult.

The best of what's around

Probably the best trail riding within about a 1.5-2 hour drive of it.

Lots of pedaling. Plenty of places where it would be really really good with another 10 degrees of slope. If I were trailbuilder, I'd keep the flow but add a more technical trail - more armour and add some log rides and/ or "north shore" features

What do you like?

Flow, berms, some armoured sections to get a bit technical. The Beast does a lot as a flow downhill with what geology gave them

What could be improved?

Not a fan of the tarmac surface on some of the bermed sections.

Official car park is expensive for what it is, but there are other options if you're willing to pedal a bit
