Description

Steam Mills Dirt Jumps is a free dirt jump park on Steam Mills Recreation Ground in Cinderford, in the Forest of Dean, looked after by Cinderford Town Council and the Steam Mills Recreation Ground Trust. Its five jump lines are graded beginner, easy, intermediate, advanced and pro, for everything from balance bikes to dirt jump bikes.

The Jumps

  • Five parallel lines of machine-shaped dirt jumps in the Forest's red soil, graded beginner, easy, intermediate, advanced and pro, so riders can start small and move up a line as they progress.
  • The beginner lines suit young riders on balance bikes, while the advanced and pro lines are built for dirt jump bikes.
  • Built in 2026 by local trail builder Dan Wagstaff, with Kelli Salone leading the project and support from Mitcheldean Parish Council.
  • Local businesses helped make it happen: Ermin Plant Hire, Hale and Co, Ark Home and Garden, MF Freeman, ID2 Design, RMS Construction, KW Bell Group and CG Agri.

Riding Here

  • Always wear a helmet.
  • Pedal bikes only: no motorbikes or electric twist-and-go bikes.

Also at Steam Mills Recreation Ground

  • A football pitch, home to Rank Outsiders FC, and a children's play park.
  • Steam Mills bowls club and the Steam Mills allotments, which the jumps sit between.

Getting Here

  • Steam Mills Recreation Ground is on Steam Mills Road, Cinderford, GL14 3JD, behind Steam Mills Primary School.
  • The only way in to the jumps is the entrance between the bowls club and the allotments (what3words ///basics.foster.regularly).
  • Buses stop at Steam Mills Primary, on Steam Mills Road.
