Description

Parkwood Springs mountain bike trails are 1 mile north of Sheffield city centre near Neepsend. It currently consists of a pretty neat action-packed 2km long trail and a Dual Slalom track. Alongside the 2 km flow trail, there is also a purpose-built paved pump track located near the car park/entrance area. There is an active local community.

Parkwood Springs is managed by Ride Sheffield who also manages Greno Woods, Lady Canning's, and Bolehills BMX.

Parkwood Springs (Blue with Red options)

  • The trail is a 2km route with pump sections, lips, berms, jumps, and doubles and it all flows really well. It's designed as a blue-graded trail (so all is rollable) with optional red lines.
  • Part of the setup is a Dual Slalom track opened. The 30-second blast has a set of berms linked together by sections of rollers that offer multiple possible combinations. The final right-hander is steep and long.

Pump Track

  • Separate paved pump track located in the open grass field beside the main Parkwood Springs trails.
  • Modern asphalt loop with rollers and small berms, suitable for all bike sizes.
  • Good for skills laps and practice away from the main flow trail.

History

  • The trail builders were BikeTrack.Org (who also built the Haggerston BMX track in Hackney) and they have been able to pack an amazing amount into such a small area.
  • It took ten years of dedication to make this trail a reality. Dan Cook started the vision, and which was made a reality by Jon Dallow of Sheffield City Council. Tirelessly Jon has worked with the council, the funders (Sports England and South Yorkshire Forest), the local friend's groups, the trail designers and community stakeholders to make this a reality. Jon has also worked with Steve Peat and Ride Sheffield to develop the designs and site.

Other Stuff

  • The area is also known for the Ski Village just next door
