Description

Mulbarton Pump Track is a single tarmac pump track built into The Meadows play area on the edge of Mulbarton, Norfolk. Opened in August 2026, it's laid out as one continuous loop of rollers and bermed corners that riders link together using body momentum, built with all ages and abilities in mind.

History

The pump track is the centrepiece of a wider revamp of The Meadows play area, which first opened in 2012 and 2013. Mulbarton Parish Council ran the project, known locally as Side by Side, with around ยฃ88,000 raised through Parish Council funds, grants from the Hornsea Three Community Fund, South Norfolk Council and Norfolk County Council, support from the Simpson McCreath Trust and Brickkiln Solar Farm, and community fundraising. Specialist contractor Four One Four built the track, completing the job within a planned four week window despite difficult weather. It passed its RoSPA safety inspection on 12 August 2026 and opened to riders straight after. The wider revamp also replaced the play area's swing set and added a new seesaw.

Riding Here

The track sits inside The Meadows, a public play area open to all with no admission charge and no booking system: riders can turn up and ride whenever the park is open. A new gate gives pedestrians, cyclists and scooter riders direct access from the path, without having to route through the neighbouring Jubilee Gardens.

The Meadows is on Cuckoofield Lane, opposite Catmere Herne, Mulbarton, Norfolk, NR14 8BA, reached on foot or by bike via Jubilee Gardens.
