Description

Abergele Pump Track (Trac Pwmp Abergele in Welsh) in Pentre Mawr Park, Conwy, North Wales, is a community-run asphalt pump track built by Velosolutions UK in 2026. It has three parts: a 210 metre main track, a 70 metre beginner track and a 74 metre advanced jump line. It is free to ride at any time, and is run by Abergele Wheelers Pump Track CIC, which raised the funds to build it.

The Track

  • The main track is a full asphalt loop of rollers and berms with several lines, open to bikes, scooters, skateboards and inline skates.
  • The beginner track is a shorter loop for younger riders and anyone starting out.
  • The advanced jump line sits alongside the main track and is for BMX and mountain bikes only.
  • The main track has Vorld lap timing, Velosolutions’ system that times your laps and ranks riders by age group and discipline.

The track was designed and built by Velosolutions UK and opened in December 2025. It was built with recycled plastic posts, reclaimed concrete and locally reused soil and clay, and the site includes habitat relocation for invertebrates. Abergele has since hosted a round of the British Pumptrack Series.

Access and Hire

The track is free to use 24 hours a day, unless it has been hired or reserved for a competition. Helmets and knee and elbow pads are required at all times, dogs are not allowed, and use is unsupervised and at your own risk. Anyone who damages the track can be banned, and you should stay off it when it is closed for maintenance.

Clubs, companies, families and individuals can book exclusive hire of the main track or the smaller track:

  • Hourly: £49, with a minimum booking of two hours.
  • Half day (four hours): £185.
  • Full day (eight hours): £360.
  • Full weekend competition (18 hours): £770.
  • Tuition coach: £15 per hour, booked and paid in advance.
  • Bike hire: £2.50 for two hours, subject to availability. Helmet hire is free, and knee and arm guards cost £5 per session plus a refundable £20 deposit.

Getting Here

The track is in Pentre Mawr Park, Abergele, LL22 7PL, opposite the Gorsedd Stones and the children's play park. The park has public parking off Water Street and Sea Road, near the play area and pond, on the same side of the park as the track. The What3Words location is ///stepping.whirlpool.stand.
