Description
Stow Pump Track is a free asphalt pump track in the village park at Stow, in the Scottish Borders. The roughly 130 metre circuit is laid out in an elongated C shape, with 180-degree berms, rollers and wide straights, and it suits bikes, scooters, skateboards and other wheeled riders of all ages.
The Track
Velosolutions designed the track and local company Bikescape built it. Riders pump through the rollers and berms rather than pedalling, which keeps it approachable for beginners, and the wide straights give plenty of line options for riders who want to push on. It is a community project led by Stow Community Trust, which manages it.
The track has Vorld, Velosolutions' lap-timing system, so riders can time laps and compare results by age group.
The surface is asphalt, so it is rideable year-round. There is no lighting, so it is best used in daylight, and helmets are strongly recommended. Soft wheels flow best on scooters and skateboards.
Stow Cycle Hub
Stow Community Trust also runs the Stow Cycle Hub on Station Road, a short walk from the track, which offers e-bike day hire. Contact the hub to book and ask about current rates.
Getting Here
The track sits in the village park off Station Road, between the bowling club and the Mill Lade, beside the football pitch. Park on the street in Stow and walk in; the village centre is close by.
