Description

Ellon Wheel Park, Ellon, Aberdeenshire, a volunteer-run community facility at Gordon Park with two asphalt pump tracks and a 450 m flat cycle circuit. Built for bikes, scooters, and skates, and open to adaptive riders too, it's designed to be inclusive and multi-discipline. The park is run by the Ellon Wheel Park Group, a registered Scottish charity, with a skatepark planned as a future phase.

Pump Tracks

Two asphalt pump tracks make up the heart of the park:

  • A smaller beginner loop, ideal for young riders or first-timers.
  • A larger, flowing track with berms, rollers, and jumps for more confident riders.

Both are open access and shared by bikes, scooters, and skateboards. Timing gates on the main track record laps for the regular Friday Fury time trials.

Cycle Circuit

A 450 m flat tarmac circuit runs around the park, open to all wheeled users including adaptive cyclists. It suits skills practice, confidence building, and group sessions, and hosts a regular Wednesday morning inclusive cycling session on adaptive bikes.

Events and Community

Ellon Wheel Park is run entirely by volunteers through the Ellon Wheel Park Group, a registered Scottish charity. The group organises fundraising events and the popular Friday Fury pump track time trials, and welcomes new members and donations to help cover running costs. Phase 2, a skatepark zone, has a completed design and is progressing through planning and fundraising, with no build date confirmed yet.

Getting Here

Ellon Wheel Park is at Gordon Park, Ellon, Aberdeenshire, AB41 9AP, directly connected to the Ellon riverside path and the Formartine and Buchan Way. Parking nearby is limited, so walking, cycling or scooting to the park is encouraged. A small car park sits at the top of Gordon Park, with further spaces at the bottom of Modley Place and Park Terrace, and across the shared path bridge at Meiklemill. If you do drive, use one of Ellon town centre's car parks, at Station Road West, Market Street, The Square, or Meiklemill, rather than parking on streets beside the park.
