Tool station stolen from Tarland Trails car park as community fundraiser launches

A community-funded tool station donated to Tarland Trails by Tyred n Cranky has been stolen from the trail centre car park, with the theft believed to have taken place between the afternoon of Sunday 17 May and the morning of Tuesday 19 May.

The station had been installed to support riders, families, visitors and the wider community using the Aberdeenshire trail network. In a statement shared by Tarland Trails, organisers described the theft as “deeply disappointing”, particularly given the station had been provided freely for public benefit.

Police Scotland incident number PS-20260522-3453 has been issued, and anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the car park during that period is being asked to come forward privately with information.

Tarland Trails also thanked the volunteers, riders and supporters who continue to help maintain and improve the trails through dig days, donations and general support. The group says community backing remains essential to keeping facilities like this running.

A fundraiser has now been launched to help replace the stolen tool station and continue supporting facilities at the trails. More details can be found through the fundraiser below.
