Cookie Monster trail upgraded for adaptive riders at Comrie Croft

Comrie Croft's middle section of its blue trail, known as Cookie Monster, is temporarily closed while the team widens its bridges for adaptive bike access.

The work is being funded through trail donations and sponsorship from neighbouring Fordie Estate, which has supplied timber felled and cut on site. The trail is expected to reopen shortly once the bridge works are complete.

The upgrade is another sign of adaptive mountain biking's growing footprint across UK trail centres. More venues are taking practical steps to open up existing trails to adaptive riders, whether through trail widening, barrier removal, or purpose-built routes. Our guide to adaptive mountain biking in the UK covers what makes a trail centre truly inclusive and where to ride across the country.

From the team

"The middle section of blue 2 (cookie monster) is having an upgrade! The rest of the blue can still be ridden, but will need to use the fireroad to skip down to blue 1 (duel of the earn).Β This is to allow new bridges to be built, which should be a little more fun and allow adapted cycles to use the trail! Happy days! πŸ˜ƒ"

At Comrie Croft, the Cookie Monster works build on existing momentum: the Perthshire venue welcomed an all-abilities, multi-use trail called The Slow Worm in its front field in 2025, designed to be accessible for a wide range of users, including adaptive MTB bikes. The team also has a funding application in progress for a Changing Places toilet on site to improve access for visitors with complex disabilities. Full details on the latter are in our earlier article: Comrie Croft seeks funding for a Changing Places toilet to boost inclusive access.
