Description
Royston BMX Track is a BMX race track off Burns Road in Royston, home of Royston Rockets BMX Racing Club, formed in 1982. The track is open for public use at any time the club is not using it.
The Track
- A BMX race track of rollers and berms, rebuilt in 2013 with Sport England Inspire Fund money alongside North Hertfordshire District Council and Royston Town.
- It is for pedal cycles only.
The Club
- Royston Rockets runs gate sessions on Tuesday evenings and open track on Saturday afternoons. Coaching is for members and is booked through the Spond app.
- New riders start with a monthly Saturday induction, for ages 5 and up, with adults welcome. It costs 10 pounds, BMX hire is 5 pounds, and helmets and gloves are lent free. Membership is 15 pounds a year, or 30 pounds for a family. Prices are subject to change, check the website.
- Riders need a full-face helmet, full-finger gloves, long sleeves and long trousers.
- The club races a Summer Series on alternate Tuesdays from April to September and a Winter Series on Saturdays from October to February, and is part of the BMX East region.
Getting Here
- Burns Road, Royston, SG8 5PT. The access road to the track is closed: park at Coombes Community Centre, then walk through the rear gate and up the steps.
