Description
Cannock Stadium (Pye Green) BMX Track, also known as Pye Green Pump Track or Cannock Pump Track, is a free asphalt pump track on the site of the former Cannock Stadium, built by Clark and Kent Contractors for the council and open to riders of every age and ability.
The Track
The track is a continuous looping circuit of asphalt rollers and berms, shaped into grassed earth mounds. The rollers have smooth, rounded crests and troughs, linked by shallow berms that let you keep momentum round the lap, and in places there are parallel lines with slightly different roller spacing. Several taller tabletop-style jumps were added at the request of the local riding group, so there is something to progress to once the rollers feel easy.
It is an all-weather track and busy with local riders. It was built by Clark and Kent Contractors as part of the council's redevelopment of the former stadium site.
Also in the Park
Cannock Stadium Park also has adventure and toddler play areas, a skate park and a learn-to-ride area for younger riders and families (both a short walk from the pump track), a car park, lit footpaths and cycleways, green gym equipment and community allotments. The skate park was designed and built by Canvas.
Getting Here
The track is just off Pye Green Road in Cannock, on the former Cannock Stadium site, with a car park for the park. It also suits riders from the nearby Cannock Chase mountain bike trails who want a pump session.
