Blue Trail

  • Famous for its berms, the trail is made up of two downhill sections with 13 back to back berms on the first descent and 16 on the second. Aside from the berms there are small drops, a few rollable jumps and some short rock gardens. Expect a pump track downhill feel. The trail suits all ages and abilities.

Natural Trails

  • Oakwell Hall is a good place to park up, ride the trail, then head off to explore the wider bridleways and natural trails around the area.

Getting Here

  • Main car park is on Nutter Lane, next to the Hall. It's open from 9am to 5pm and locked overnight, and has a height restriction barrier, so take bikes off roof racks before entering.
  • A second car park sits towards the south west of the site near Bradford Road and is open 24 hours.
  • The trails are still accessible when the car parks are closed.
  • From the main car park, ride past the cafe, over the old railway bridge about 150m up the track, and the trail start is on the right just after the footpath.
  • Bus routes 180 and 229 stop at Birstall market place, around a mile's walk from the park.

Local Organisation

  • Ride Kirklees, the local mountain bike advocacy group, remains involved with the trail and helps with its upkeep.
