Description
Northumberland Park BMX Track is an asphalt BMX pump track in Northumberland Park, the Victorian park between Tynemouth and North Shields that opened in 1885. It sits next to the children's play area, and North Tyneside Council runs the park, which is free to visit.
The Track
- An asphalt pump track of rollers and banked turns between grassed mounds, laid out as several connected lines rather than a single loop.
- Built as part of the park's multi-million pound restoration, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Big Lottery Fund and North Tyneside Council. Work on the track began after the summer of 2015.
Also in the Park
- A multi-age play area right beside the track, a bowling green, an orienteering course, a sculpture trail, and woodland and lakeside walks.
- A visitor centre with a tea room, and public toilets.
