The Track

The track is built as two linked circuits in a single footprint, described by Homes England as "two courses in one" and aimed at all abilities, from first-timers to experienced riders. It sits at the Eastern Sports Hub, on open ground between Northstowe Secondary College and Halcyon Mere lake.

  • Surface: asphalt
  • Layout: two joined pump track loops in one circuit
  • Suitable for: bikes, scooters, skateboards, rollerblades and adapted wheelchairs
  • Access: on foot only, via the path around Halcyon Mere
  • Cost: free to use, no booking required

Landscaping around the site is still being finished. Temporary fencing remains in place around newly planted grass and trees in the surrounding area, and visitors are asked to keep to the path and signage rather than crossing it. Always check the official Northstowe website before visiting in case access details change while this work continues.

General

The pump track was delivered by Homes England as part of the Eastern Sports Hub, within Northstowe's phase two and three development south of Cambridge. It has been opened for community use ahead of the surrounding landscaping being fully completed.

An official opening event took place on Friday 21 August 2026, with a try-a-bike activity, no booking required, and rider demonstrations from Alex McDonald and Gee Northam. The Northstowe Hub cafรฉ was also open on the day for refreshments. Clark and Kent Contractors, a specialist BMX and pump track builder, said on Facebook that it attended the opening and gave away free bikes, skateboards, helmets, T-shirts and stickers to the local community.

The track adds to a growing set of sport and leisure facilities in Northstowe, alongside the Western Park Sports Pavilion and the Northstowe Secondary College sports centre and gym nearby.
