- The Marsden Park Pump Track is a brand‑new addition to Pendle’s largest park, located in Nelson. Designed and built by Clark & Kent Contractors and funded through the Healthy Town strand of the Nelson Town Deal, this all‑asphalt pump track provides a safe and progressive space for kids and riders of all ages to develop their skills.
- The track features a looped design with rollers and banked turns that can be ridden without pedalling by using body movements to ‘pump’ through the course. It is suitable for bikes, scooters, skateboards and even rollerblades, and is accessible for different skill levels. Consultations were held in November 2022 and July 2024 to ensure that the design met community needs.
- The chosen location, at the corner of Hallam Road and Marsden Hall Road within Marsden Park, offers a tranquil area away from housing and minimises disturbance to wildlife. The track completes the recent Marsden Park upgrade, which also includes a new playground, a multi‑use games area and refurbished tennis courts. Pendle Panthers BMX Club will be offering free taster sessions to teach kids how to use the pump track safely and gain confidence.
