Fun pump track

Lordship loop is a really fun, fairly long pump track. It is good to see how far you can make it round without touching the peddles which is quite tricky on this track. It also has a small skate park next to it which is quite fun. Definitely worth the visit, i will be going back soon!

Good points:

Good to practice pumping and jumping

Bad points:

In a bit of a dodgy area...

Excellent start, Can be used in Lots of different ways (pumping, jumping, manual etc) After the start...it gets horrible.. the pumps broaden out too much and you HAVE to pedal... This ruins the point of the track on the return run you find yourself hopelessly out of breath to early..and are unable to ride the last good pumps to your full potential. Skatepark right next to the track (very nice for biking) If you want a fun way of losing weight or keeping healthy..come here I constantly feel on edge here...it isn't the friendliest of areas....being next to an estate Been close to being mugged afew times..

Good points:

Fun Suits all styles of riding Jump able Skatepark Next to it social meeting place

Bad points:

Dodgy area Pumps too Spaced out Out of breath too soon

Addictive

Urban pump tracks are starting to spring up more and more. Unfortunately, some sre designed and built by non bikers and simply don't work so well. The Loop however, has gone from inception to completion with a wealth of enthusiasts and professionals bringing her to life. I've ridden the Loop 100+ times and I'm still learning. The starting ramp is high enough to pick up good speed across the first section. This includes a speed jump and three doubles then hitting a berm. From here you can cut across to return to the start. I have often focused on this starting section to work on manualing across the doubles. Beyond the berm, there are another couple of doubles leading into a long back straight with a triple at the end. Not sure what the idea was behind this, but for me it's missing something. Perhaps it's there to pick up speed again for those without the expertise to gain momentum through pumping. The third section has some nice small doubles and triples, which I find are very manageable, and if you have enough speed, you can focus on manualling and jumping. These lead into the large 180 berm. I fond this berm difficult from the beginning, but I've seen some riders ripping it, and I'm beginning to master it now as well. Again, about 20m out you can cut across to practice it. Also, the top of the berm extends into a flat area that you can use as a mid way starting or rest point. The fourth section leading away from the berm has some fairly large rollers with a high table top. Due to its height (probably the largest after the starting ramp), it takes a lot of practice. From early rides, less experienced riders will struggle to get up it without pedalling. Fifth section is what I call the recovery section. Similar to the long back straight, it lacks any significant features - some undulating ground and a flat corner leading into.. .. the last section - a double just before a series of three tight berms. These are great .. if you get them right. If you get the right lines you can carry loads of speed and flow through. coming out of the last of these takes you to a short straight next to the startig ramp. The track is suitable for both BMXs and MTBs (and the other styles inbetween) and I have found it hugely beneficial to ride the track on both. Track records: sub minute is good. Best official time within the club is 52 seconds. Track condition - there areas of the track that need some work. Although we (the Trax) have been maintaining it through most of 2012, we ran out of the limestone needed to patch and resurface it. As of the time of this review, we are awaiting a delivery of more and have maintenance sessions in the plan for winter. Setting - thanks to the wildlife area that surrounds the Loop, it's a much more pleasing setting than some others. OK, you do have the back drop of the estate, but there are no major roads near by, and the surrounding trees move you away from the urban setting to which you arrived.

Good points:

Variety, progressiveness, can be used by all (I've seen 4 year olds on it), but still be challenging to experienced riders.

Bad points:

Facilities are limited, although there is a great community cafe in the adjacent park. A couple of sections are somewhat bland.
