King’s Cliffe Pump Track

King’s Cliffe Pump Track is a free-to-use asphalt pump track for bikes, scooters, skateboards and inline skates, set in the KC Active community sports ground off Station Road in King’s Cliffe, North Northamptonshire. Designed and built by Clark and Kent Contractors and run by the KC Active charity, it has beginner and progressive lines, with a playground and cafe next door.

The Track

• A circuit of berms and rollers on asphalt, with several lines so newer riders and more confident riders can ride the same track at their own level.
• Open to bikes, scooters, skateboards and inline skates, so expect a mix of wheels and ride with that in mind.
• Clark and Kent Contractors describe the surface as all-weather grade.
• No booking needed. The track was officially opened by Olympic BMX bronze medallist Declan Brooks and went on to win a Health and Wellbeing Initiative Award in the North Northamptonshire Council Active Communities Awards.

Local Organisations

• KC Active: the charity, run by local volunteer trustees, that raised the money for the track after local families asked for one and now looks after it along with the rest of the sports ground. Profits from facility hire go back into maintenance and improvements, and the charity welcomes volunteers. You can follow it on Facebook.

Beyond the Track

The pump track is one part of KC Active, a 12-acre community sports ground in the village. Younger children have a playground and older children have the OurSpace area, with swings, climbing equipment, an aerial rope slide and outdoor table tennis, which makes the site easy to share with a family that does not all ride. There are also grass football pitches, a floodlit all-weather games area, tennis and netball courts and a gym, and the Active Cafe opens on set mornings, so check the times on the KC Active website before you plan on a coffee.

Getting Here

• The track is at KC Active, Kingsmead, Station Road, King’s Cliffe, PE8 6YH.
• There is a large free car park on site, including EV charging.
• If you are local, there is pedestrian access to the site from both the east and the west.
