Description
Ipswich BMX Track is the BMX race track in Landseer Park, home of Ipswich BMX Club, which calls itself the UK's longest running BMX club. The track is free and open for public use outside club sessions.
The Track
- A BMX race track with a numbered start hill, pale hard-packed rollers and straights, and asphalt berms.
- The club held its first race here on 2 November 1980, on what it calls the country's first local authority track. It was rebuilt for international events in 1989 and 1990, and hosted the British BMX Championships in 2002.
The Club
- Ipswich BMX Club runs coaching, gate practice and Go Ride racing on Tuesday evenings from April to September, and members' coaching on Saturdays all year in four groups, from Intro to BMX to Advanced, booked through the Spond app.
- Coaches are British Cycling Level 2 qualified. New riders can borrow a full-face helmet and gloves, and there are a few hire bikes.
- Membership is 12 pounds for juniors, 18 pounds for seniors and 36 pounds for a family. Prices are subject to change, check the website.
- The club is a registered charity and is raising funds for track upgrades.
