Overview
Horam Pump Track is a purpose‑built asphalt pump track situated within the Recreation Ground in Horam, East Sussex. It offers a flowing circuit of rollers and banked turns that can be ridden without pedalling by using body weight to pump over the features. The track caters to BMX riders, mountain bikers, skateboarders and scooters across a range of ages and skill levels.
History and Funding
The pump track forms Phase 2 of the Get Active Pathway (GAP) project at Horam Recreation Ground. The project was driven by Horam Village Hall Trustees with the aim of improving outdoor recreational opportunities for the local community. Construction was enabled by a successful community crowdfunder and a funding boost of nearly £50,000 from the Veolia Environmental Trust (www.nusghani.org.uk). Additional support came from local partners and the Parish Council. The track uses existing soil from previous projects and locally sourced aggregates to minimise environmental impact (www.nusghani.org.uk).
Builder
The pump track was designed and built by Forte Trailscapes, a UK‑based trail building company founded by former BMX world champion Kye Forte. The company specialises in designing and constructing pump tracks and mountain bike trails, and it worked closely with Horam Village Hall Trustees to deliver this community‑focused facility (www.instagram.com).
Share your experience
