Horam Pump Track

Horam Pump Track is an asphalt pump park on Horam Recreation Ground, behind the village hall on the A267 between Heathfield and Hailsham. Designed and built by Forte Trailscapes, it packs rollers and banked turns into several linked lines, ridden one way round, with a challenge for both new and experienced riders. It is open to BMX, mountain bikes, scooters, skateboards, skates and balance bikes, it is free to ride, and it sits beside the recreation ground's all-weather pathway loop.

The Track

• An asphalt pump park designed and built by Forte Trailscapes, with rollers and banked turns laid out over several linked lines rather than a single loop.
• Green arrows on the surface mark the riding direction: ride one way round and follow them.
• Designed for BMX, mountain bikes, skates, skateboards, scooters and even balance bikes, with a parent on hand for the youngest riders.

Riding at the Track

The safety guidelines posted at the track are:

• Helmets should be worn at all times, and leg and arm padding is recommended.
• Take care in wet or cold conditions, and don't ride in the dark.
• Bikes should be in working order with brakes. Scooters and skateboards are best on large soft wheels, which help with speed and are kinder to the surface.
• Respect other users and don't ride above your ability.
• No dogs.

Local Organisations

The track and the Constance Scott Recreation Ground are run by the trustees of the Horam Village Hall and Recreation Ground charity. The pump track is the second phase of their Get Active Pathway project, after the all-weather pathway around the field, and was paid for by a village crowdfunder with grants from the Veolia Environmental Trust and the Garfield Weston Foundation and match funding from Pro-Eco. Getting Here

• Horam Village Hall is on the A267 in Horam, between Heathfield and Hailsham, postcode TN21 0JE. Park in the main village hall car park off the A267 and walk through to the recreation ground; the track sits along the hedge at the edge of the field, beside the pathway.
• A larger overflow car park sits beside the Scout HQ, past the village hall on the same access road.
• The Cuckoo Trail, a traffic-free path on the old railway line between Heathfield and Eastbourne (National Cycle Network Route 21), runs through Horam, so you can ride in from Heathfield, Hailsham or Polegate.
