Description
Hilton BMX Pump Track is a free-to-ride asphalt pump track on the field behind Hilton Community Hall in Wolverhampton, WV4 6DN. Wolverhampton City Council runs it, and Clark and Kent Contractors resurfaced it in 2018, with a layout built around linked straights and berms.
The Track
The track is surfaced in asphalt laid over a stone base and runs as a continuous looped circuit. Several straights of rollers and compressions are linked by berms, so the riding is about carrying speed round the lap rather than pedalling hard. Painted white edge lines mark the boundaries, and the asphalt rises and falls over grassed mounds.
The council describes it as a BMX and mountain bike track and says it is not suitable for complete novices. Riders should be able to pedal, brake and coast standing up before they start, and helmets must be worn. The council also asks riders to leave dogs, glass and alcohol at home, and smoking is not allowed.
Also in the Park
The track sits on open grass beside Hilton Hall Community Centre, which is on Hilton Road in Lanesfield.
Getting Here
Use Hilton Road (WV4 6DN) for navigation. The track is on the field to the rear of Hilton Community Hall, with off-road parking nearby, and it is open all week.
