The 4X Track
- The Falmouth 4X is a national standard track with 7 corners, including 4 flat off-camber turns, a long start straight, big pro-line doubles, rocks, log drops and table-top jumps.
- The track is progressive, built to suit everyone from complete novices to elite racers.
- You'll need a day pass or club membership to ride โ see Admission below before you travel.
Local Organisation
- The track is run and managed by Carrick Riders Mountain Bike Club, a British Cycling-affiliated club based in Falmouth.
Events
- Falmouth hosts a round of the British 4X Series every year, drawing racers from across the UK to Pennance Mill Farm for a weekend of national-series racing.
Admission
- Carrick Riders Mountain Bike Club is clearly active: the track hosts a round of the British 4X Series every year, and the club runs sessions for members and day-pass riders through its British Cycling club page.
- That said, Google currently lists this location as permanently closed, which conflicts with the club's own activity, and it isn't clear how reliably the track is open for casual public riding outside organised sessions and events. Email Carrick Riders (CarrickRiders2016@gmail.com) before you travel, so you're not disappointed if it's not open when you arrive.
Getting Here
- Falmouth Bike Park is at Pennance Mill Farm, Pennance Hill, Falmouth TR11 5HJ, around 2 miles from Falmouth town centre. There's a car park on site.
- A couple of miles away is the Falmouth Pumptrack (Trescobeas Track), a separate facility not run by Carrick Riders, with free roadside parking.
- The Track Portreath and Poldice Valley Trails are both within 5 miles too, worth keeping in mind as backup rides if Falmouth Bike Park doesn't work out on the day.
Beyond the Trails
- Pennance Mill Farm is a family-run campsite spread across eight acres in four fields, with grass and hardstanding pitches, electric hookups, and free showers.
- Self-catering options include The Lodge, Pendennis Chalet and Durgan Chalet, plus Betty's Shepherd's Hut for glamping.
- A private coastal footpath leads to Maenporth Beach in around 20 minutes, and Falmouth's pubs and restaurants are under ten minutes away.
- See Pennance Mill Farm for current availability and prices.
