Description
Eyam Pump Track is a pump track for all wheels on Hawkhill Road in the Peak District village of Eyam, in the Derbyshire Dales. It is one small looping track of berms, humps and jumps, built by JB Extreme and run by the volunteer Eyam Pump Track Club, and it sits next to the village play park, which makes it an easy stop for a family day out.
The Track
- A small continuous loop of berms, humps and jumps with an asphalt surface, designed with drainage in mind so that it can be ridden through the year.
- Free to use and open to all wheels and all abilities, so it suits first-timers on balance bikes and scooters as much as experienced riders warming up before a Peak District ride.
Local Organisations
- Eyam Pump Track Club: the not-for-profit, volunteer-run club behind the track. It raises money through grants and events to look after the track and to pay for landscaping, seating and a viewing terrace, and it welcomes volunteers and donations. Its main fundraiser is the Red Rat Rampage, a non-competitive mountain bike challenge from Eyam each September with three routes of roughly 13, 40 and 60 km, including a family-friendly short route for ages 8 and over. Getting Here
- The track is on Hawkhill Road, close to the centre of Eyam (S32 5AD), beside the play park.
- There is a free car park next to the public toilets, above the smaller pay and display car park on the same road. The pay and display car park is the first one you reach, so carry on to the larger free one.
- While you are in the village, Eyam Museum, which tells the story of Eyam as the plague village, is on the same road.
