Description
Embsay Pump Track is a compact asphalt pump track on the Embsay with Eastby Recreation Ground in the Craven village of Embsay, near Skipton in North Yorkshire. A continuous loop of rollers, berms and shaped contours fits a small footprint, and riders keep their momentum by shifting their weight and pumping rather than pedalling. It suits BMX bikes, mountain bikes, scooters and skateboards, and it is free to ride.
The Track
The circuit is a single asphalt loop of rollers and berms packed into a modest space, designed and built by Clark and Kent Contractors for the Friends of Embsay with Eastby Recreation Ground. Riders of all ages and abilities use it for BMX, mountain bike, scooter and skateboard laps, and it works well for practising the pumping technique that carries you round without a pedal stroke.
Who Looks After It
The recreation ground is run by Embsay with Eastby Parish Council, whose clerk is the contact for the site. Local families also share news and updates in the EmbsayPlay Facebook group. The parish asks riders and parents to take litter home or use the bins, and to leave the boundary wall stones where they are.
Getting Here
The track is on the Embsay with Eastby Recreation Ground in the village of Embsay, near Skipton. There is free parking in the village car park, a few minutes' walk away. A bus service links Embsay with Skipton.
