Description
CafesideMTB Bike Park is a small, currently closed bike park located on Haldon Hill near Exeter. Run by a core team of local riders as a Community Interest Company, the project has secured a 10-year lease with Forestry England and is working towards an official reopening later in 2026. The site holds around 14 hand-built trails covering roughly 5km, including flowy downhill singletrack and progressive freeride lines with jumps, drops and technical features.

CafesideMTB is not part of the nearby Haldon Forest Park trail centre. It sits on the opposite side of Haldon Hill, near the A380 and Haldon Grill. The trails are officially closed and not safe to ride, and riding or digging before the official reopening risks jeopardising the park's future.
Status
The lease is signed, has now officially started, and they have insurance in place. Their revised application for a Lawful Development Certificate has now passed validation and is live on the Teignbridge District Council planning website. This is to officially recognise that the trails at Cafeside have been there continuously for over 10 years. Riders of Cafeside are asked to add their supporting comments to their application, confirming the site has been used for mountain biking for over 10 years.
The Trails
All trails are currently closed while site preparation continues, though the team is maintaining and improving the network ahead of reopening.
- Top-half trails - V2, Slush, and Sweet and Sour are the first priority for getting ready before opening day.
- About Time - features are being repaired ahead of reopening.
- New Intro (proposed) - a new trailhead link down to Rusty Pram and Slush Puppy, currently being planned.
- 50/50 jump area - next priority once the top-half trails are ready.
Local Organisation
CafesideMTB is run by a small team of local riders and trail builders as a Community Interest Company, holding a 10-year lease with Forestry England for the site. It's expected to reopen as a pay-to-ride venue once insurance, infrastructure and planning permissions are finalised. A crowdfunder covering legal and planning costs remains open for support.
Getting Here
CafesideMTB does not yet have a dedicated car park. The team is arranging interim parking while permanent facilities are developed, so check the website or social channels before travelling. The site is on the A380 side of Haldon Hill, near the Haldon Grill.
