Description
Braintree BMX Racing Track is the home of Braintree BMX Club, which calls itself the biggest BMX club in Essex. The track is open to the public 24/7, all year round, and the club runs coaching most Saturdays and club racing through the year.
The Track
- A BMX race track with a start hill, berms, and pale hard-packed straights and rollers, set among grass banks.
- The club is volunteer-run with no private funding, and celebrated its 40th birthday with a race in 2024. Follow the track-side signage when you ride.
The Club
- Coaching runs most Saturdays for ages 4 and up. New riders start with Intro to BMX at 10 pounds including bike hire, then move through Fundamentals, Core, Advanced and Expert groups. Bikes, helmets and gloves can be hired on a first come, first served basis. Prices are subject to change, check the website.
- Riders need a full-face helmet, long sleeves, trousers, gloves and trainers.
- To join, riders do a six-week induction first, then sign up through British Cycling (Get Involved).
- Club racing runs a Summer Series on Wednesday evenings and a Winter Series on the first Sunday of each month.
