Description
Bolton Pump Track is an asphalt pump track by Velosolutions in the village of Bolton, near Appleby-in-Westmorland, set among wildflowers at the back of the Memorial Field. It opened in April 2022 and is run by Bolton Parish Council.
The Track
- Velosolutions built the track in early 2022 to RoSPA and British Cycling standards, with asphalt donated by Aggregate Industries. Its red-striped berms and rollers loop round a wildflower-planted infield.
- It is designed for all skill levels and is open to bikes, scooters, skateboards, inline skates and wheelchairs.
- Helmets must be worn, and riders without one will be asked to leave the track.
How It Was Built
- The village raised the money with support from British Cycling, the National Lottery Community Fund, Cumbria County Council, the Hadfield Trust, Eden Grove Developments and local firms and individuals. Dr Neil Hudson MP cut the ribbon in April 2022.
- Bolton Parish Council manages, inspects and insures the track.
Also Here
- There is a gazebo and picnic table beside the track, and Bolton Village Memorial Hall is next door.
