Description

Blythe Valley Pump Track is a rebuilt pump track at the edge of the Blythe Valley Park housing area, near Hockley Heath and Solihull in the West Midlands (B94 6DL). Black asphalt berms and rollers are mixed with runs of hard-packed rollers, and Clark and Kent Contractors rebuilt it with input from local riders.

The Track

The track is a loop of black asphalt berms with straights of rollers between them, and several of those roller runs are pale, hard-packed rather than asphalt. That gives you a choice of lines: smoother, lower-commitment laps while you warm up, and faster, more direct runs when you want to work on pumping, timing and cornering. Clark and Kent Contractors rebuilt the old track on a tight site, working in phases and holding workshops with local riders so the new layout suits riders of all skill levels.

  • Surface: Black asphalt berms and rollers, with hard-packed roller runs
  • Riding style: Berms and rhythm-style straights of rollers
  • Line choice: Several routes and link-ups across the track

Access

The track sits within the Blythe Valley Park estate, close to the new homes, so keep noise down and watch your speed near neighbours. Look for signs at the track for rules, opening times and who may use it.

Facilities

The track is in open parkland with no buildings beside it, so bring water and anything else you need.

Getting Here

The track is just east of Illshaw Heath Road, Hockley Heath, at the foot of a large open field that gravel paths run around. The paths link it to the streets of the Blythe Valley housing area to the east. Please park considerately, as the track sits beside homes.
