Description
Blackpool BMX Track is a national standard BMX race track in Stanley Park, Blackpool, next to the zoo. It opened in 2011, has hosted rounds of the British BMX Series, and is home to Blackpool BMX Club.
The Track
- At around 500 metres it is one of the longer tracks in the country. A high, steep start hill drops into a long straight with a step-up and doubles, then the track splits into amateur and pro sections separated by a grass strip before a tight last berm and a final straight of rollers.
The Club
- Blackpool BMX Club runs Saturday morning sessions, starting with a new rider session from 9am that is recommended before racing, followed by coaching groups. Book through the club's online shop.
- Bike and kit hire is free for Saturday sessions; arrive 15 minutes early to borrow kit. Long sleeves and long trousers are needed, so no shorts or T-shirts.
- In summer the club also runs an open gate evening on Wednesdays. Times depend on volunteers, so check the club's Facebook page before you go.
Also in the Park
- Stanley Park is one of Blackpool's biggest parks, next to Blackpool Zoo, and also has a skate park that welcomes BMX riders.
