Description
Berwyn View Pump Track is on Berwyn View Recreation Ground in Ellesmere, Shropshire, next to Lakelands Academy. It was built by Clark and Kent Contractors for Ellesmere Town Council: an asphalt loop of about 240 metres (260 yards), 1.5 metres wide, for bikes, scooters, skateboards and inline skates. It opened in 2025, paid for largely by a community crowdfunding campaign that raised over £70,000, with £15,000 guaranteed by Shropshire Council.
The Track
The loop is laid out to keep your momentum going without pedalling, with rollers and berms for beginners and more experienced riders alike. The surface is asphalt over a drained base, so it is rideable year-round and drains quickly after rain.
Community
The design followed consultation with local residents and schoolchildren aged from 5 to 15. Families, businesses and local groups backed the crowdfunding campaign, and the track is built as a gathering place for young people and families.
