Description
Allithwaite Pump Track, Allithwaite, Cumbria is a tarmac pump track located within the village playing fields near Grange-over-Sands. Built by Clark & Kent Contractors, the all-weather track replaced an ageing stone BMX facility and now provides a flowing, progressive layout suitable for riders of all ages and abilities.

Pump Track
The pump track features a continuous asphalt loop with smooth rollers, shallow and steeper berms, and multiple lines that allow riders to maintain speed by pumping rather than pedalling. The layout works well for BMX bikes, mountain bikes, scooters, skateboards and other wheeled users, and is commonly used by a mix of children, families and experienced riders.

Background and Build
The current pump track is the result of a three-year community fundraising effort led by local residents, with support from Allithwaite and Cartmel Parish Council. The project aimed to replace an outdated and deteriorating BMX track with a modern, safe and inclusive facility for the village and wider South Lakes area.
Construction was carried out by Clark & Kent Contractors, specialists in pump track and BMX facilities, and the finished track was subject to a RoSPA inspection prior to opening. The build was completed in early 2022 within the existing playing field area at Fell Side.
Funding
Funding for Allithwaite Pump Track was raised locally through donations, events and grant support over several years. A community-led fundraising campaign helped cover construction costs, insurance and ongoing maintenance, with local riders and supporters continuing to contribute to the track’s upkeep and future improvements.

Directions
Allithwaite Pump Track is located within the village playing fields at Fell Side, Allithwaite. From Grange-over-Sands, follow the A590/A592 towards Allithwaite and use local village roads to access the playing fields. The track is easy to reach on foot or by bike from within the village.
