Llwyn Woods MTB Trails – Llanfyllin is a new community-led mountain bike project currently under construction in Llwyn Woods, directly behind Llanfyllin School in Powys, Wales.

The project includes three progressive trails — a green flow trail, a blue technical trail, and a red freeride line and skills area — all accessed via a central push-up track. Expect berms, tabletops, ladder drops, wooden balance beams, and rollers.
The site is designed primarily with children and beginners in mind, though the trail grades and freeride line offer something for a range of abilities. Once completed, the trails will be free to access via a community-run membership scheme, encouraging inclusive, active outdoor riding.
The project is being delivered by Llanfyllin Community Initiative (LCI) in partnership with Llanfyllin Town Council, who have secured a lease on the woodland from Powys County Council. Funding support comes from Welsh Cycling, recognising the project's value in promoting health and community engagement.
Construction is expected to complete this year. LCI is still looking for support — including materials, equipment, or services — from local businesses and the riding community. If you’d like to help, contact: llanfyllinci@gmail.com
Trails
Green Flow Trail: A mellow trail with smooth corners and gentle gradients, perfect for beginners and younger riders.
Blue Tech Trail: A slightly more technical line with tighter turns and trail features aimed at developing intermediate bike handling.
Red Freeride Trail: A more advanced line with opportunities for jumps, drops and faster flow, suitable for confident riders looking to progress.

The skills zone near the top ideal for warming up or building foundational trail skills.

Access: Trailhead is located behind Llanfyllin School.
Cost: Free, with a community-run membership model.

Revolution Bike Park has been working with Llanfyllin Community Initiative on the project for the past two years. They’ve also mentioned plans to share a build diary via their YouTube channel. Revolution is based just 8 miles away in Llangynog, making this a close community collaboration.
