Description

Hafod Trails are in Hafod Wen on the edge of Brechfa Forest, in South Wales. They are built on private land and opened in Spring 2024. Hafod is an uplift-assisted bike park with a good mix of progressive trails from beginner through to expert black tracks.

The Tracks

Currently, there are seven tracks constructed with approximately 100 meters of descent. These technical red and black trails featuring an off-piste character, as well as blue flow trails Riders can expect combination of hard-packed machine-built trails hand-cut natural paths, offering a mix of flow technical elements with a natural-piste feel. There are limited jumps at present, though more are planned for the future. Additionally plans for jump lines and a progressive skills area are underway. As there is no push-up track, it is essential to the uplift service in advance through the website.

Green Trail

  1. Floverload. Beginner cyclist/mountain biker with basic off-road riding skills.  Most gradients are gentle to moderate.  No Technical Trail Features.  Trail surface will be uniformed.

Blue Trails

  1. Peek-a-Blue
  2. Space Melon
  • Intermediate cyclist/mountain bikers with basic off-road riding skills.
  • Most gradients are moderate but may include short steep sections.  Includes small Technical Trail Features (TTFs).  Trail surface may include small obstacles of roots and rocks.

Red Trails

  1. Reddy Steady
  2. Earth Pig
  3. Mud Life Crisis
  • Proficient mountain bikers with good off-road riding skills. Steeper and tougher and a challenging nature with technical sections.  Expect very variable surface types.  Expect boardwalks, berms, large rocks, medium steps, drop-offs, cambers.

Black Trails

  1. Life's a Beech
  • Expert mountain bike users, used to physically demanding routes. As "Red" but with an expectation of greater challenge and continuous difficulty.  Can include any useable trail surface.  Expect large, committing and unavoidable TTFs.  Sections will be challenging and variable.

Absolutely banging bike park. Highly recommended

Absolute good around bike park for all ages

nice to to see kiddos from as young as 3-4 years all the way upto 70+ 

all trails well maintained and smooth 

with a lovely family vibe and perfect little spot on site to serve you food and drinks. 
would highly recommend taking a trip here.

Amazing uplift for multiple laps!

New favourite trails with a brilliant uplift service. 16 chill paced laps including a long lunch (although the uplift is continuous all day)!!

Charlie and Tom were amazing with my enthusiastic son and the trails were perfect!

Best trails this side of anything

The best trails for all rider abilities, Hafod offer varied terrain, progression, and skills development opportunities. Literally anyone can ride these trails from beginner to elite. The trails are run by the most wonderful family who make you feel welcome and like you're part of something special. They have an efficient uplift which I've never had to wait for...the drivers are not only drop you at the top of the trails with a smile, but they've got a wealth of knowledge about mountain biking and they know (coz they built them!) the trails really well. If you want to know what to expect or whether you can ride a trail, they can tell you everything. I've always had an amazing time there and I feel a real fondness for the place 

What do you like?

The family, the uplift service, and all the trails (except the black which I'm yet to complete!- this time next year!)

What could be improved?

Honestly, I don't think anything. If you could move it so that it was closer to my house, that'd be great

Reminded me why I love an uplift day!

Reminds me of the revelation and grins of first uplifts, a great mix of trail styles, surfaces and challenges, with the best uplift service I’ve ever experienced. 

What do you like?

Helpful, informative and inclusive, nothing was too much bother, with fab food and great atmosphere.

What could be improved?

I’m sure it’ll grow but I kinda hope it doesn’t and stays a personal, family oriented, and welcoming place. It’s the perfect salve for those tired of over commercialised bike parks full of DH bro’s.

An absolute hidden gem

Hafod trails provide everything! Everything is well sign posted and well maintained. The views are incredible, and the trails are always so exciting. The food is always amazing and Charlie and her family are the most loveliest people ever! They're always so inspiring to talk to and everything is so relaxed and so much fun. Absolutely loving their skills area and literally no wait at all for the uplift. Always have such a fun time there. Feel so lucky to have this place so close by
