Description

Gilwern Pump Track is a free asphalt pump track on Gilwern Playing Fields, near Abergavenny, beside the village skate park. Trailcraft rebuilt it in 2021 for Llanelly Community Council, and it now hosts Welsh Cycling's Gilwern Pump Track Jam evenings.

The Track

  • Asphalt lanes of rollers and berms with painted direction arrows, over grassed mounds. It was significantly upgraded by Trailcraft in 2021, funded by Llanelly Community Council with a Monmouthshire County Council grant.
  • Welsh Cycling runs Gilwern Pump Track Jam evenings here, with timed laps for all ages, a final, pro riders and food. Any BMX or mountain bike with a rear brake can race, and helmets are required.

  • A skate park with a mini ramp, a play area and climbing frame, the playing field, Gilwern Bowls Club and sports courts.

Getting Here

  • Gilwern Playing Fields, at the back of Cae Derw, Gilwern, NP7 0BJ. Parking is limited, so use the Community Centre, the bowls club or the village, or ride in: take the cycle path to Govilon, then the canal towpath to Gilwern.
