Description
Barry Sidings Mountain Bike Trails sit in Barry Sidings Country Park in Trehafod, near Pontypridd, in the Rhondda Cynon Taff valleys. The trails are unsanctioned, volunteer-built and unwaymarked, built and maintained by the local riding community across the steep forested hillsides above the park. The riding ranges from flowy blue to steep, gnarly black descents on natural terrain. The Barry Sidings Cafe and the Bike Doctor bike shop serve as the community hub at the base of the trails.

The Trails
- The network has over 20 trails on Trailforks, predominantly black with some red and blue options. The terrain is steep, technical and natural in character. Rocky, rooty descents dominate the upper section, with more flowing lines lower down.
- Rossers Descent: The most popular and most ridden trail in the network. Steep, natural and technical.
- Black Gold: A highly rated black descent with natural features.
- White Widow: Another well-ridden black line in the upper network.
- Hand Built: Classic natural singletrack, long-established as one of the area's favourites.
- Mates Race: A social favourite, the most historically ridden trail at Barry Sidings, going back to 2012.
- ThreeG: The most recently active trail as of July 2025.
- There is also a small pump track at the base of the site near the cafe, suitable for warming up or for less experienced riders.
- All trails are unsanctioned and unwaymarked. Come with a downloaded GPX or local knowledge. One of the first-ever downhill races in Wales was held at Barry Sidings, around 25 years ago.
