Bike Park Pohorje Maribor

Bike Park Pohorje Maribor is Slovenia's largest and best known gravity bike park, spread across two lift served zones on Pohorje above the city: the main Mariborsko Pohorje area and the Areh sector further up the plateau. Between them the park offers around 18 waymarked trails from green to black, roughly 30km of riding in total, served by a cable car and several chairlifts. Its signature World Cup black run has hosted UCI Downhill World Cup racing since 1999.

The Trails

Trails are split across two zones. The main Mariborsko Pohorje zone, reached from the lower cable car station, carries the park's best known runs:

• World Cup (Black): the legendary UCI World Cup downhill track, fast and root strewn with the famous Rocks and Roll rock garden. Around 2.2km long with roughly 465m of vertical drop.
• Fury Trail (Black): a hand built enduro line with roots, natural drops and tight switchbacks, around 820m long.
• Bolfenk Trail (Red, with black sections): steep and technical, used for World Cup level training.
• Red Fox Trail (Red): an enduro trail over roots, rock and wooden features, around 1.2km, named for the Golden Fox ski race.
• Stream Line (Red): a short hand built singletrack alongside a stream, around 400m.
• Jump Line (Red): built for flowy jumps and smooth transitions.
• Videc 1 (Red) and Videc 2 (Black): natural forest singletrack through spruce woods, with a further Videc sector in development.
• Panorama Trail and Tower Trail (Blue): easier connecting routes with views over the Drava valley.
• Flow Line (Blue): the park's long beginner and family friendly descent, around 5.2km with roughly 700m of descent, with optional jump features for stronger riders.
• Family Line (Green): the easiest trail in the park, gentle bumps and flowing turns, rideable year round.
• Skills Park: a dedicated beginner area with its own conveyor lift, for learning body position, braking and jumps away from the main trails.

The Areh zone, a short drive further up the plateau, adds:

• Ruška Flow (Red): smooth turns and small to medium jumps, around 2.1km.
• Ruška Family (Blue): a winding, family friendly line, around 1.3km.
• Amerika Trail (Blue enduro): natural singletrack with wooden features and easy bypasses, around 837m.
• Loam Lane (Blue) and ZigZag Trail (Green): easier natural singletrack aimed at newer riders.

The park is under active development, so expect new lines and the odd trail closed for renovation. Check the operator's own trail status notices before travelling for anything time sensitive.

Facilities

The base area at the lower cable car station has paid parking, a ticket office, a bike shop and bike wash, and bike hire (including e-bikes) based at Hotel Bolfenk next to the base. There is a bar at the top of the gondola for a break between runs.

Getting Here

The lower cable car station is at Pohorska ulica 60, on the eastern edge of Maribor, with paid parking right next to the base. From the city centre, follow signs for Pohorje. The Areh zone is reached separately, further up the plateau road.

Maribor's Marprom city buses, which also operate the cable car, stop directly outside the lower station at the Vzpenjača stop, making the base easy to reach without a car.
