Description
Transition Extreme Pump Track is an outdoor asphalt pump track at the Transition Extreme action sports centre on Links Road, beside Aberdeen Beach. Built by Velosolutions, it has a 185 m main loop and a separate 55 m beginner track, and you can hire a BMX or jump bike on site.
The Track
The main loop and the beginner track together give more than 240 m of riding on a surface of about 1,700 square metres. The designers fitted the length in with tight 180-degree berms, and the beginner track is there for younger riders and first-timers to get the feel before they try the main loop. A double berm and curved straights were added so skateboarders from the indoor skatepark can ride it too. It replaced an earlier pump track on the site.
You pay to ride. A track-only ticket gives you the pump track all day, and an all-day pass also covers the indoor skatepark. Hire is available for BMX, jump bikes, skateboards and inline skates, with helmet and pads included. Helmets are mandatory for under-16s, and full-face helmets are allowed on the pump track. The centre is run by a charity and also has an indoor skatepark, a climbing wall, high ropes, a cafe, changing rooms with showers and lockers, and a water fountain for refilling bottles.
Getting Here
Transition Extreme is on Links Road, close to Aberdeen Beach, and the pump track sits on the outdoor side of the building beside the road. There is parking at the centre. Bus stops at Urquhart Road and the Beach Ballroom are a short walk away.
