Description
Sender Bike Park is a purpose-built coaching and skills park in Rothiemurchus Forest at Inverdruie, a few minutes from Aviemore in the Cairngorms National Park. Riders book a two or four hour DIY session and work through more than ten zones, from a flatland coaching area and body position station to a jump line, gap jumps, a drop zone and three airbags. Every feature steps up in difficulty a little at a time, so the park suits beginner and intermediate riders building confidence, and anyone wanting to learn to jump and drop.
The Park
Scott Muir and his family designed and built the park themselves on Rothiemurchus estate land. It opened in 2024 and was rebuilt with new features for the 2026 season. The zones are:
- Flatland Coaching Area and Body Position Station, for the basics
- Mini Sender Line and Mini Cannons, smaller jumps to start on
- Kicker Table, Kicker Gap Jumps and Coaching Gaps
- Jump Line
- Drop Zone, with timber drop platforms, and the Big Drop
- Tech Descents
Features are laid out so each step up is a small one, and the park is designed as a coaching space as much as a place to session.
Airbags
Three iXS airbags, at 1 m, 1.5 m and 2 m, let riders practise jumps and tricks onto a soft landing while working on body position, timing and control. Before using them every rider takes an induction, warming up on the tabletop and gap jumps and then passing a practical test for the airbag size they want. Airbag sessions run at set times on selected days and depend on the weather, and the extra charge is paid at the park on the day.
Sessions and Prices
DIY sessions are booked online in advance. Turning up on the day is possible, but a place isn't guaranteed. A full session runs from 13:00 to 17:00, and a two hour session starts at 13:00 or 15:00. Weekends are open through the season, while weekday sessions normally run during the school holidays. The park closes for DIY sessions over the winter, usually reopening around late March or Easter, so check the opening times page before you travel.
- Full session (4 hours): Β£24.50 per rider, Β£44 for two, then Β£22 per extra rider
- Two hour session: Β£19.50 per rider, Β£34 for two, then Β£17 per extra rider
- Airbags: Β£15 per rider on top of the session price
Prices are correct as of October 2026 but subject to change, so check current rates on the venue's website before you book.
What to Bring and Park Rules
- A properly fitted helmet is required (EN 1078 for adults, EN 1080 for children). Gloves, eyewear and knee pads are strongly recommended, and full-face helmets and body armour are welcome.
- Nylon or plastic flat pedals with plastic pins are mandatory. Pedals can be hired at the park.
- Every rider signs a waiver and wears a participation wristband. Riders aged 15 and under need a parent, guardian or responsible adult on site at all times, and riders aged 16 and 17 need a parent or guardian's signed waiver.
- Riders need to be able to pedal and coast standing up with the saddle down. Children aged 4 or 5 can ride if they show they meet that standard.
- E-bikes limited to 25 km/h are welcome. Throttle-controlled or delimited bikes are not.
The full code of conduct is on the park's website.
Coaching and Guiding
The park is the base for Scott Muir's coaching and guiding business, Performance Mountain Sports. Alongside DIY sessions it runs private and group coaching for MTB and e-MTB riders, coached skills courses including beginner and improver sessions, multi-session coaching programmes and kids' academies. Private coaching runs at the park and on local trails, including outside the DIY season by arrangement. Scott also guides riders on trails and mountain routes around Aviemore and the Cairngorms. See the coaching pages for what's on.
Getting Here
The park sits beside the B970 ski road and the cycle path between Aviemore and Coylumbridge, at Inverdruie, PH22 1QH. Its own parking belongs to the tennis club, so please don't park there. Use one of these instead:
- Rothiemurchus Woodland Car Park, about 100 m east towards Cairngorm Mountain, a few minutes' walk from the park
- Rothiemurchus Fishery car park, about 200 m west towards Aviemore, with toilets
- The Barn Cafe, about 250 m towards Cairngorm Mountain, with toilets and limited parking
From Aviemore it is an easy ride along the cycle path, and Aviemore station on the Highland Main Line is about 2 km away.
Nearby Riding
- High Burnside, Aviemore's community trail network above the town
- Lairig Ghru and the Rothiemurchus estate tracks, starting from the Rothiemurchus Centre next door
- Glenmore Forest and Cairngorm Mountain Bike Park, further along the ski road
