Description
Chryston Pump Track is a pump track on Lanrig Road in Chryston, North Lanarkshire, built by Clark and Kent Contractors for North Lanarkshire Council on the site of a former red shale football pitch. It is one compact loop with an asphalt start hill, asphalt berms and limestone dust straights.
The Track
The start hill and the berms are asphalt, and the straights between them are limestone dust, so the track mixes a smooth, fast surface in the corners with a firmer packed surface on the straights. Rollers link the berms, so you can build speed through the rhythm sections and carry it round the turns without pedalling much. Hard-piped drainage was built in to keep it rideable in wet weather.
