The stands were installed at Riverside Park last week, home to the Glenrothes Pump Track, part of a £5 million redevelopment of the park funded through the UK Government's Levelling Up initiative and officially opened in early 2025. A nearby park bench has also reportedly been damaged.

Friends of Riverside Park (FORP), the volunteer group that has campaigned for and supported improvements to the park for around 14 years, confirmed the damage in a statement shared on social media. FORP is volunteer-run organisation.

According to FORP, the equipment was installed for the whole community to use, free of charge, before being destroyed within days.

The group is appealing for anyone with information, photos, or video from the area to come forward. Witnesses are being asked to contact FORP directly at forpglenrothes@hotmail.co.uk or to report information to Police Scotland on 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress. Information can be passed on anonymously if requested.
