Uncertainty over the future of Bickerstaffe Cycle Track

Bickerstaffe Parish Council has launched a community survey to gather opinions on the future of the Bickerstaffe Colliery Cycle Trails following concerns raised by Lancashire County Council (LCC).

Like this?

At a recent meeting, LCC highlighted issues affecting the site, including low usage, anti-social behaviour, and environmental damage. Specific problems include excessive litter, illegal scrambler bike use, damage to local farmland, vandalism, and unauthorised trail modifications creating dangerous runs.

Both councils acknowledge these challenges can be resolved, but doing so requires funding and commitment. To help shape the future of the trails, the Parish Council is asking for community feedback via a short survey.

Have your say! Complete the survey before 5pm on 8th February 2025:

The survey starts with the following rather ambiguous statement so please go support and fill it in:

"We would like to know how the trails are used by the community to help determine the future of the site"

You can check out the Bickerstaff Facebook page here.

If you are a member of the local community, ride the trails or a council member please share your thoughts or any insight in the comments below. Many thanks.
