Ferndale's new BMX pump track in Rhondda Cynon Taf is built. Trailcraft designed and built it for the council in spring 2025, on a former landslip remediation site beside the Rhondda Fach Active Travel Route, as part of a wider effort to make the Rhondda Fach a more accessible outdoor destination.

Update, October 2026: the track is built and has its own listing, Ferndale Pump Track. Builders Trailcraft say they designed and built it in spring 2025, with asphalt rollers, berms and cambered turns inside a low timber fence. We have not seen an official opening announced, so if you have ridden it, please let us know how you found it.

The track is off Station Road in Ferndale, beside phase four of the Rhondda Fach Active Travel Route. The project turns the site used to store material from the 2020 Tylorstown landslip into a recreation space for riders of all ages and abilities, including those on balance bikes, scooters and BMXs.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council approved the development in December 2024 as part of ongoing work to repurpose former industrial and remediation land. In June 2025 the council said construction was nearly finished.

The track complements the Active Travel Route, giving local residents off-road access and linking into the wider Ferndale area on foot or by bike. It forms part of the council's strategy to connect communities through outdoor infrastructure.
