For the second time in as many years, the operator of the uplift service, bike shop and cafe for Dare Valley Family Gravity Bike Park in Aberdare, Wales, will shut shop till next season when hopefully a new operator can be found and make it work (assuming that is still the Councils intent?)
PedalBikeaway had similar challenges and could not get permission from the council to expand the existing trails to make the operation commercially viable, so in May 2023 they handed the operation back to the council.
Maybe the circumstances are different this time round but it seems there is something structurally not sound in how the council has set up the operation to be commercially sustainable and a trail expansion plan should likely be reconsidered.
Trails all still open but one to watch closely.
Announcement from current operators:
"Hi everyone 🤘 difficult announcement! Sadly here to tell you all that the uplift service, bike shop and Caffe
will be closed till next season! 😔 Me (Dai) Luci and all the team at gravity bike park just wanted to say thank you to everyone who's been coming to visit each week we have had such a good run at it but sadly couldn't make things work. All the trails will remain open as usual so please keep them tidy and keep riding them 🤘 We will miss you all 😔 from the crazy locals to the ones that have travelled hours to visit us weekly. Thank you!!!!
Please don't hesitate to contact me for any information regarding uplift or bike repair queries"
