The volunteer group behind the proposed bike park has announced two funding awards that will help move the project into the construction phase.
The project has received £20,000 from the National Lottery Awards for All programme along with a further £15,000 from Sport England. The group says the funding reflects both the strength of the proposal and the level of support from the local riding community.
Together, the £35,000 package will support the development of a dedicated bike park intended to provide a place for riders and the wider community to ride and progress.
The project team has also confirmed that Velosolutions will deliver the trail construction. A build programme is currently scheduled to run from May through to August.
During that period, the specialist build will be supported by volunteer dig days, giving local riders the opportunity to help with parts of the project alongside the professional construction work.
The project has been developing as a community-led effort to create a purpose-built riding facility in Richmond. Once complete, the park is expected to provide a dedicated riding space for local riders as well as visitors to the area.
