Richmond Bike Park
Richmond Bike Park is a community bike facility on the outskirts of Richmond Town, North Yorkshire, currently under construction on land provided by Zetland Estates.
Once complete, it will offer a free-to-access, inclusive space for riders of all ages and abilities. With no similar facility within 45 minutes, it meets an important local need for outdoor activities and skill development. Velosolutions-designed trails and a pump track are working toward a soft opening targeted for September 2026, with a full launch to follow in spring 2027. Expect almost 2 km of mountain bike trails, with back-to-back berms, jumps and rock features for riders of all levels.

The Trails
Inspired by Devil's Toenail in Wetherby, Richmond Bike Park takes a grassroots approach: the park is being built by the community, for the community, with volunteers, local trades, equipment, materials and donors coming together to deliver each phase, from digging and shaping to planting and signage.
The Velosolutions UK design includes a 290m green downhill trail, a 390m green climbing trail, a 100m green loop, a 345m blue downhill trail, a 530m red downhill trail, a 65m dual slalom track, and a 40m jump line with a dedicated jump area. The green trail weaves around the outside of the hill, while the blue and red lines take more direct routes down the slope. The dual slalom and jump features sit near the start area at the top of the site, forming a compact skills zone.
Local Organisation
The build is backed by the Shimano Trail Born Fund, delivered through Madison, which also supports Aston Hill in Buckinghamshire and Rabbit Hill Bike Park in Aberfoyle. Thirsk-based Biker Group and building materials supplier Tarmac have also donated aggregate and materials to the build, with Biker Group delivering 140 tonnes of aggregate free of charge and Tarmac contributing a further 1,243 tonnes worth around ยฃ20,000. No commercial trail contractor is running the build; it relies entirely on local labour, donated materials, equipment and skills.

Beyond the Trails
Planned facilities include multi-user gates, signage, benches, boulders, trees and shrubs. The park is designed for beginners, families and young riders, intermediate and advanced cyclists, local schools, clubs and community groups, and visitors from nearby towns and the wider region.
Getting Here
The site sits near Green Howards Road and Whashton Road, on the outskirts of Richmond Town, on land made available by Zetland Estates. Once open, it will be reachable by bike, on foot or by car.
