Richmond Bike Park, North Yorkshire is edging closer to reality. Volunteers were recently on site to measure and mark the first sections of trail — another step in the phased journey from planning permission through to construction. The group stresses that all skills are welcome, from digging and design to logistics, photography or simply making brews, making it a true community effort.

Richmond Bike Park is a planned community facility on the outskirts of Richmond Town. Once complete, it will offer a free-to-access, inclusive space for riders of all ages and abilities. With no similar facility within 45 minutes, it fills an important local need for outdoor activity and skill progression. Inspired by Devil’s Toenail in Wetherby, the project will be built by the community, for the community — with volunteers, local trades, equipment, materials and donors all playing a part. You can read more on the Richmond Bike Park listing.
Momentum is also being boosted by funding. A £5,000 donation from Exelby Services has taken fundraising to £40,000. Around £60,000 more is needed before the park can be built, but support like this is a major step forward.
The next chance to get involved is a Community Day at the Holly Hill Inn, Richmond (DL10 4RJ) on Saturday 27th September from 3pm. Expect a BBQ, garden games, a “beer barrow,” raffle, and logo designing. Families are welcome to meet the volunteers, enjoy the afternoon, and find out how to be part of the project.
